Hello all,

I just came back from Merlionland, Singapore, super hot & humid but I love it, I felt really happy as this was my 2nd international teaching debut. Big thank you to the world's most beautiful baker, Siti from Siti's Delights for  inviting me to your baking school & organising the events.

Thank you to all my hardworking students for turning up without fail.
Miss you all ... miss hearing Singlish (Singapore English)...and guess wat, my Singlish has improved too.

Handi's Cakes in Penang

Greetings from Penang (Malaysia),

This year I am participating in CRAVE Sydney Food Festival, I will be  doing hands on cake decorating class in my studio. Students will learn the basics of decorating round and square mini cakes, applying ganache, fondant layering, and decorating (roses, leaves and bow tie).

Strike!!!

 

This very cool cake is for a little boy whom I've made cakes for before. Felix is having a ten pin bowling theme birthday party at the bowling alley and this cake was made especially for it.

Felix is actually a regular customer of mine (at the age of 6! how cool is he?) I made Felix's 2nd and 3rd birthday cakes. Check them out!:

2 Tiers Double Barrel Cake

I would like to share my recent Intermediate class - 2 Tiers Double Barrel Cake with large feature flower.
We created these beautiful cakes in 2 days and I am proud to announce that my students have graduated with flying colors.

My 2 days class will guide you to cover your cake without cracking, setting up double barrel cake, brush embroidery, lace piping, metallic finish and making large feature flower.

:: 'Paris' theme cupcakes ::

Paris theme cupcakes .. think Paris, think fashion, sophistication & trend. I created Eiffel tower, Fleur De Lys, Tres Chic cupcakes. Colour theme was black & white with a little dash of pink. Joyeux Anniversaire Indra !!

:: Jimmy Choo theme for Amy's 21st birthday party ::

The doting daddy personally came to organise this pink Jimmy Choo sugar art surrounded with cupcakes for Amy's 21st birthday. How sweet ... He said Amy loves Jimmy Choos & I am surprised he knows Jimmy Choo, trendy dad indeed. Happy 21st birthday Amy, hope you will have unlimited Jimmy Choos & a wardrobe like SJP in Sex in the city, well you do need storage for your investments right... !!

Handi's Cakes won Cake Decorator of the Year!

What a night! I went to the Annual National Baking Industry Association (NBIA) Gala Awards Night on May 10 in Brisbane. The event was themed ‘A Parisian Masquerade’ featuring special guests Adriano Zumbo and Kirsten Tibballs!

I was so excited to be seated at the head table, I felt just like a VIP! It was so great to meet Adriano, Kirsten and Julie Whitehead. The president of NBIA was there too and the award was presented by the president of Cocoa Berry (one of the major sponsors).

It was such a great moment receiving the award for Cake Decorator of the Year! The award is now on display in my shop!

Princess Cake

I created princess cake for Brittany's 18th birthday party. The princess was dressed in A line shape ball gown with ruffles. Upper part of the dress was decorated with diamontes whilst lower part was decorated with delicate lace piping. Airbrush method was used to colour the dress.

Water Slide Cake

Meidy's birthday party is held at an aquatic centre and her mom has requested a colorful & festive water slide theme for the birthday cake. The cake is white chocolate mud with 3 lanes of water slide plus all water park decorations. Here you go .... my very latest creation, water slide birthday cake.

Boxing Glove Cake

A sexy and glossy red boxing glove cake was organised for Noah's birthday party. Noah is a muay thai champion (thai boxing) and I worked extra hard for the perfection of the glove.

Please ... please...please love the cake. I am really trying to avoid flying boxing glove =)

Sam's all time favourite is R2-D2 from Star Wars & my client has kindly organised a surprise R2-D2 cake for Sam.The best part of making this cake is seeing my happy client's reaction when she collected the R2-D2 cake, she was over the moon & her joy is priceless. Have a great R2-D2 birthday Sam !!

Shitbox Rally Cake

Handi's Cakes has donated  Shitbox Rally logo cake to support their work in raising money for Cancer Council New South Wales. Shitbox Rally is a really insane rally idea, they use crappy cars, each car must costs less than $1,000 to rally from Brisbane to Darwin. I am sure the rally team will have a great time laughing/ maintaining/ driving the crappy cars, check out progress of the rally from the blog.

Please support Shitbox Rally with your deepest pocket, the rally team is doing a wonderful work for a great cause and they are $15,000 under at the moment.

Beginner 3 - 2 Tier Stencil & Large Peony Rose (Photos)

My Beginner 3 class has successfully completed a rather big work, covering two (2) tier square cake, stenciling plus creating a large sugar flower peony rose. Classes ran for 2 days from 10am-4pm & yeahhh they all survived.

I am pleased to see my students are gradually on its way to intermediate level.
Please keep up the great work all.
