Handi's Cakes in Jakarta

Hello my dear readers,

After 21 days being away from Sydney, I am now back and updating my blog again. I am still a little jet lag but super excited  to share my recent trip to Jakarta. It was such an experience (in a good way of course) to be able to teach in my home country in 100% Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia). Big applause to Heavenly Sweet for having me and for organising everything for me, it was a great event indeed. Thank you to all students for working really hard and putting up with me for days, I hope you still love me haha. I will be back to Jakarta in September to share more techniques with cakers. Hope to see you again. For timetable or course information, please check my website or email thia_11@yahoo.com.

The Large flower class - feeling overwhelmed, students were coming from Bali, Surabaya, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Ambon and Bogor. WOWWWW...Thank you all for spending sometimes with me.
Look at those cute and gorgeous figurines created by my students in 2 days. Very cute & detailed indeed. I think they are ready to go to the Oscars to receive their awards.

SMURF Village Cake

Peyo created SMURF comic for the whole world and Handi's Cakes proudly 3D-ed the comic into a reality cake. We recently made a SMURF village cake for Meidy the birthday girl. We created a hot air balloon (weaved basket style) surrounded with different characters from the comic - Papa Smurf, Painter, Smurfette, Brainy, Chef, Farmer, Greedy, Handy, Harmony, Hefty, Jokey, Lazy and Vanity. Pretty adorable ...

The Water Dragon Spirit

Hello all,

First of all I would like to wish everyone a belated 'Happy Chinese New Year 2012' (water dragon year), I know it's kinda late (like...1 month late) but please give me a chance to wish everyone good health, luck, peace and prosperity. Hope everyone will experience a fantastic year ahead.

In the spirit of the water dragon, I would like to share my past dragon cake works with you all. I looked at both photos and trying to recall the making of the dragons. Ohhhh...what a process. They were different in terms of techniques/ colouring skills and I did enjoy every moment of the process in creating them. Really pleased with both dragons. I was comparing both dragons several times, and I cant decide on which design I like the most. I love them all ...

Which dragon do you like the most? Red Or Green?
Lemme know your thoughts...XOXO

My very 1st dragon work (probably dated somewhen in early 90s), single colour method - all red. Female dragon perhaps?
My 2nd dragon (approx. 3-4 years ago), smaller in size, more colour details, check out the color gradation method.
